Universal Yums - Poland

Several years ago, I won a trip from a home builder here in Austin. The prize options were several packages for vacations spots here in the US. When I was chatting with the builder's travel agent, I mentioned that none of the options were really interesting to me. She said that if I wanted to, I could build my own trip up to the value of the packages so that is what I chose to do.

It is somewhat of a running joke that I have a relative or know somewhere everywhere I go. This is really true and so I chatted with my daughter and decided to visit some friends across the pond. Nicole and I set off on a European adventure to Austria, POland, Belgium and France.

We started in Vienna, Austria to visit one of my former foreign exchange students, Astrid. She was the best tour guide showing us highlights of the city. We went to a small amusement park where Nicole and Astrid rode roller coasters (while I watched from the benches), at pig knuckle, and road the ferris wheel. We also got to swim in the Danube, which was so much fun.

Before traveling to Belgium to visit a cousin and then France to visit another foreign exchange student, we visited my old friend from college, Michal, and his daughter Helenka. The summer was one of the hottest ones for Europe at the time so instead of spending a lot of time in Warsaw, we ended up traveling out into the countryside and spent several nights in a retreat-like place on a lake. It was fun relaxing by the lake, reading, fishing and exploring the woods nearby. On the drive to and from Warsaw, we saw cows and all kinds of wildlife. While we don't speak Polish and Helenka didn't speak much English, whenever we saw some cows, we would moo at each other. To this day, over 10 years later, Mikey's daughter remembers us and sends us a "moo" across the ocean when we chat.

Here is our second Universal Yums video with snacks from Poland. Enjoy!
