Life Happens - Weekend 1 Recap
The first few days of my 60 to Sixty got off to a rocky start and that's okay. As John Lennon once said:
I committed to The Miracle Morning, Galveston Diet (I don't really like the word diet, by the way) and starting Pilates. Unfortunately, the morning after my first post, I woke up with a bad pain in my neck and shoulder and couldn't swim. This development carried over into Saturday morning when I woke at 3am, fell back asleep at 5am and then woke up again around 7:30 not feeling well at all plus the neck and shoulder ache turned into not really being able to turn my head to the right and nerve issues traveling down my right arm and right leg. Luckily, some new clients had a flight cancelled on Friday so I didn't have to work on Saturday. I spent the day Saturday reading a new book, Project Hail Mary, and applying ice and heat to my neck and shoulder (this helped greatly).
'Life happens' doesn't always have to be negative or a negative can become a positive sometimes. My clients's flight being cancelled, not so great, getting the day off on Saturday to help my neck and shoulder, not so bad! Also, since posting my 60 to Sixty, I have had some friends and family reach out about wanting to join in on some of the activities. It looks like I will already be planning the trip to Banff this November with a cousin and her hubby since he has a business trip there at the same time as the Banff Film & Book Festival. I am so excited!
The rocky start reminds me of something I heard Jeff Daniels say to Nicolle Wallace on her podcast, The Best People. He likens aging to hitting speed bumps and how our body deals with them at various ages. Sometimes we hit the speed bump and while it may slow us down some, it's not a wall. This also reminds me of a quote I learned in Keller Williams class:
Basically, I didn't let the neck/shoulder setback make me throw in the towel. I did fairly well on my eating plan, I am keeping track of my exercise and what I eat using the Cronometer app, getting back to reading comes fairly easy and when I have to keep track of what I am eating, coming home for a healthy meal instead of drive-thru after a long, hot day of working was not as difficult as my head wanted me to believe.
All in all, not a horrible start and I am looking forward to the week, trying out pilates places to settle on one location to take classes for the next month and making plans for other list items.
Reach out if you want to come along on any of the adventures or activities or read the books with me!
